A federal appeals in NY granted an administrative stay against Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension on Friday, freeing the Dallas Cowboy running back to play this weekend in the latest twist to the star's legal back-and-forth.

The suspension was imposed in August after the NFL's investigation into allegation of multiple physical confrontations with Elliott's then-girlfriend.

It appeared that after much back-and-forth, Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension was set to begin on Sunday. "Every day is worth fighting".

Prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio, decided not to pursue the case in the city where Elliott starred for Ohio State, citing conflicting evidence.

But the Second Circuit is likely to grant a request for an emergency injunction hearing for next week when a panel of federal judges will decide whether to overturn Judge Katherine Failla's ruling from Monday to deny a preliminary injunction.

An immediate appeal by the NFL Players Association to the 2nd Circuit and a request that he be allowed to play Sunday won a one-game reprieve Friday from Circuit Judge Susan Carney with no comment on the merits of the union's arguments. "Just glad to be able to go out there and play, glad to be back here with this team". He hasn't considered accepting the punishment, he said, because the consequences affect more than his playing career.

"This is bigger than a suspension", he said, per the Dallas Morning News.

But after a federal appeals judge ruled on Friday that Elliott can play Sunday against the Chiefs, the 22-year-old star put his battle with the league into his own words. The 2016 Rookie of the Year's Cowboys, at 4-3, are chasing the first-place Eagles in the NFC East.
