China Again Blocks Move to List Masood Azhar as Global Terrorist

Condemning China's statement, India's External Affairs Ministry, in a statement, had said, "This does not reflect well on the determination that the worldwide community needs to display to decisively defeat the menace of terrorism".

Reacting to China's move, New Delhi today said it "strongly believes that double standards will only undermine global community's resolve to combat terrorism".

"We can only hope that there will be a realisation that accommodating with terrorism for narrow objectives is both short sighted and counter productive".

This will mark the second time in two years that Beijing has essentially stymied attempts to list the Jaish-e-Mohammad leader, a move that would have helped cut funding and freeze financial assets, besides exerting pressure on Pakistan to take action.

Papa John's already has a strong association with the league, so we have scaled back the use of NFL marks in certain areas. He cited the wave of protests in 2012 against Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy's opposition to same-sex marriage .

Jaish-e-Mohammad has already been blacklisted by the 15-nation Security Council, but its chief has not.

But China, a member of the U.N. Security Council, has repeatedly put a technical hold on the Indian request citing a lack of consensus, a claim India rejects. "We will discuss the strategy to move forward on this issue during our meeting with the American officials, as was agreed during Tillerson's visit", a source said. "But there is still absence of consensus on this matter".

"But regrettably, the committee has yet to reach consensus". Azhar is accused of several terrorist attacks in India. The veto will create new friction with India, which has been pressing for sanctions that would freeze Masood Azhar's assets and ban global travel from Pakistan, where he lives.

'We will remain in constant touch and coordination with the relevant parties on the resolution and rules of procedure of the Committee, ' Hua said.

Halloween parade marches on amid heavy security after attack
President Trump acknowledged the attack on Twitter, describing the perpetrator as a "sick" individual. According to witnesses the suspect screamed 'Allahu Akbar, ' law enforcement sources informed CNN.

The Indian statement did not identify China, a close ally of Pakistan, as the "single country".

Beijing's decision to block the move could be seen as a turn-around after being part of the Xiamen Declaration, released after the Brics summit last month.

On Monday, Hua had said: "The relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council have clear stipulations as to the mandate of the 1267 Committee and clear stipulations when it comes to the listing of relevant organisations and individuals".

Earlier in June, China insisted that India provide "solid evidence" against the Jaish-e-Mohammed chief. The declaration was the first time anti-India groups such as LeT and JeM were compared to the IS by the grouping.
