Twitter bans ads from Russian media outlets

While RT and Sputnik are banned immediately from advertising, they will be able to continue to keep their Twitter accounts as long as they continue to follow Twitter's rules.

Twitter said on Thursday that it had made a decision to ban ads from RT and Sputnik, a Kremlin-backed news agency, based on its own internal investigation and on the US intelligence community's assertion that the outlets tried to interfere in the election.

"We did not take this decision lightly, and we take this step as part of our ongoing commitment to protecting the integrity of the Twitter experience", wrote the social network in a blog post, "the accusations against Russian media directly funded by the Kremlin came within the framework of an official United States investigation into possible Russian intervention in last year's vote, in which was elected by current President Donald Trump". In its latest quarterly report, Twitter said that since 2014 it has double-counted users running some third-party apps.

Twitter is banning advertising from all accounts owned by Russia Today and Sputnik effective immediately, after USA investigators concluded the Russian media companies attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. "It is especially unfortunate that the american media in Russian Federation, now, are likely to feel the softness of the retaliatory measures of Russian Federation".

Twitter has effectively banned two Russian media organisations from advertising on the platform because of election meddling.

Exporters can claim GST refund this week
As per available data, 55.87 lakh GSTR-3B returns were filed for July, 51.37 lakh for August and over 42 lakh for September. The government had earlier waived the late fee for delayed filing for the month of July, media reported.

It also said it will donate the estimated $1.9m it had earned from RT since 2011 to "support external research into the use of Twitter in civil engagement and elections, including use of malicious automation and misinformation".
