Facebook, Instagram go down for some users globally

  • Facebook and Instagram are down for thousands of users across the US and UK according to reports.┬áThe issue appears to be widespread with reports of outage popping up in Brazil Japan India and parts of Europe

It is rare for Facebook to suffer an outage - and even rarer for it to be brought down at the same time as Instagram, which is also owned by Facebook.

The hugely-successful photo-sharing social network appears to be offline for hundreds of users in the UK, Europe and United States.

"We're sorry for the inconvenience." representative said. So, after hours of global outage, Facebook is reported working fine now.

The website Down Detector revealed that an outage knocked out services across the country. Some users from parts of South America and Southeast Asia were reportedly getting errors as well.

First things first, here's what went down (heh): Things started to get messy around 11:11 a.m. ET, which is when users started sending in reports, according to Outage Report (Facebook, Instagram).
