Trump weighs in on Jemele Hill's ESPN suspension

11 October, 2017, 00:39 | Author: John Swanson

One day after ESPN suspended SportsCenter personality Jemele Hill for suggesting a boycott of the Dallas Cowboys, President Donald Trump weighed in to take a shot at the network and Hill.

Trump says it's "no wonder" ESPN's ratings have tanked with Hill "at the mike". She previously stirred controversy by calling President Trump a "white supremacist" on Twitter. Hill's boycott was her second violation of ESPN's social media policies, the network said.

The latest such example of this weird behavior is with ESPN's Jemele Hill.

And then, as she told GMA , there was the time that the president protested to naming his firstborn after himself. Cover of 2017 book " Raising Trump " by Ivana Trump . "I love my husband.' It was unladylike but I was in shock".

On Sunday, Hill tweeted in response to team owner Jerry Jones' threat to bench Cowboys players who didn't stand for the national anthem.

The president appears to see a political benefit in continuing his fight with the league over players protesting racial injustice by kneeling. Hill, a prolific tweeter, avoided an outright apology, but said she regretted she "painted ESPN in an unfair light".

The debate over the National Football League players' protests has become more intense since President Donald Trump harshly criticized the practice at a September 22 campaign rally and challenged National Football League owners to take action. She was discussing the president's vehement sympathy for numerous white nationalists who marched on the University of Virginia's campus in Charlottesville, chanting anti-Semitic and anti-Black rhetoric, and whose actions directly led to the violent tragedy that fateful weekend.

Catalonia Waits With Bated Breath As Independence Decision Looms
It is home to 7.5 million people and accounts for about a fifth of Spain's economy. She said Catalonia, which borders France, already has "considerable autonomy".

It was an apparent turnaround for Jones, who just two weeks earlier had himself knelt and linked arms with players at a game against the Cardinals in Arizona, before rising as singer Jordin Sparks began the national anthem. "Change tax law!" Trump tweeted. Hill wrote if fans were upset with Jones' ultimatum they should target team advertisers, rather than placing the burden exclusively on the players. "That resulted in us not taking action on the Tweet that she put out".

Hill has been with ESPN since 2006. "If you feel strongly about [Jerry Jones'] statement, boycott his advertisers".

Optimistic May to call for flexibility from European Union in Brexit talks
Jensen called for compromise, saying "this will never be a 100 per cent win for one side or the other side". He added: "The timing of talks depends on the availability of our United Kingdom partners".
