Windows Phone's death has been slow and painful, but, as CNET spotted, the head of Microsoft's Windows division finally admitted you shouldn't expect anything more when it comes to Windows Phone. Belfiore has detailed the reasons for this failure, including the lack of apps, which has always leaded the platform.

"We have tried VERY HARD to incentivize app developers", said Belfiore.

He admitted that there were so few Windows Phone users that developers wouldn't even support the platform if Microsoft paid them to do so - or even wrote the Windows version of their apps for them! We can't ignore that Microsoft has a strong hold in PC market and most of us use Windows 10 on our PC or laptop having a new platform within Microsoft's ecosystem will be unbelievable.

Ramos and Pique , who play for rival clubs Madrid and Barca, have feuded in the past but are now on good terms. The gamble paid off as Spain earned a 3-0 win in a game in which he handed a start to youngster Marco Asensio .

For those who are still holding on to their Windows smartphones though, Belfiore says they will still support their mobile platform. There will be no new features or hardware.

Microsoft has been struggling ever since the introduction of Apple's and Samsung's operating systems, iOS and Android, respectively. Microsoft has cut the funding as much as it can, and only tries to keep the current customers, mostly business customers, safe from hackers and other security problems.

It is also why many have been highly-anticipating the iPhone X which is said to introduce a period of a super cycle for Apple . The iPhone X will be in short supply when it launches later this year due to production issues , reported MacRumors .

The tweets come a short time after Microsoft founder Bill Gates revealed that he switched to an Android device "with a lot of Microsoft software". The VP though assured the platform will continue to be supported so that bug fixes and updates would be released when needed.

Nearing the end of the noughties, Microsoft's Windows phones were one of the major rivals to iPhone and then the emerging Android phones but they saw a drastic downfall over the years. The Windows Phone operating system used Microsoft's Metro UI and offered a smattering of live tiles for its homescreen. This applies to the Windows Phone as well.
