Any fears that this was a terror incident have been dismissed and it is being investigated as a road traffic investigation.

Eleven people were injured on Saturday (Oct 7) when a auto mounted the pavement and ploughed into pedestrians near London's Natural History Museum, leading to the driver's arrest, although officials ruled out a terrorist link.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Whilst inquiries continue it is believed a vehicle mounted the pavement and collided with a number of pedestrians". The majority of them have been discharged.

"Eleven people were found at the scene with varying injuries and nine of them have been taken to hospital, and this includes the man that was detained by police". The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said he had been in close contact with the assistant Met commissioner Mark Rowley, who is also head of national counter-terrorism policing.
