The biggest change has been with the offense and Cam Newton.

The rest of the National Football League is seeing the results.

Cam Newton threw three touchdown passes, helping Carolina build a lead big enough to hold off host Detroit in a 27-24 victory Sunday. Newton tallied 316 passing yards and three scores in a 33-30 victory against New England in Week 4. Carolina's final touchdown came on a flawless 31-yard touch pass, where Newton hit Kelvin Benjamin in stride despite tight coverage from Darius Slay.

"I didn't call the wrong play, it just came out wrong", Newton said. "So, I'll come in tomorrow and see what we need to do to get the W".

Seattle gave him his first opportunity to change sports in 2013, working him out initially as a defensive end before inviting him to training camp as a tight end. "Again, [Newton] is doing some really good things right now and he's really in sync with his receivers".

It's pretty good for the Panthers, too.

The Panthers (4-1) scored 24 straight points after trailing the Lions 10-3 early in the second quarter.

Three weeks ago the Panthers were getting pounded 34-13 at home by the then-winless New Orleans Saints.

"I don't think it's 'funny" to be a female and talk about routes. He went out late in the game with an ankle injury, but was cleared for a full practice on Thursday. "We have to get it fixed". The veteran signal-caller threw two fourth quarter touchdown passes, pulling his Lions to within three points. In the third, the Panthers made it 27-10 after Newton's 31-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin and Gano's 44-yard field goal.

Jim Caldwell deflects blame from Eric Ebron, after the tight end dropped a would-be TD in the first half of the Lions' 27-24 loss to the Panthers on October 8, 2017.

Dickson's performance was the second-best receiving output by a Panthers tight end in franchise history, second only to Olsen, who tallied 181 yards last season in Week 5 against Tampa Bay. He had 64- and 57-yard catches in the first half for two of his three receptions of 50-plus yards in his eight-year career.

The Detroit Lion's ace Matthew Stafford will take the field today as the highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

Newton wore a black hat with a white button on the left side to honor Rosie the Riveter before and after the game.

Newton was among the 20 former Auburn players who got on the field during the fifth Sunday of the NFL's 2017 season.

"I feel alright", he said.

Funchess was asked what it made it hard (besides Newton's fastball). "It's amusing." Newton declined to provide much of a comment about her absence at the game.
